Audi Q3

The Audi Q3 is expected to debut commercially in 2010. The three-door only SUV will be aimed as more of a lifestyle/sports car, rather than for the family/off-road market its larger Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 siblings aim for. Audi Q3 will be underpinned by the Volkswagen A platform of the VW Golf, the same as the VW Tiguan small SUV. The car will combine a Transverse engine layout with flexible steering and suspension offers. The Audi Q3 will borrow many Golf V, or possibly Golf VI, components, such as a DSG Twin-clutch Gearbox transmission and a 147 kW (197 hp) 2.0 FSI turbo engine featured in the current Golf GTI. The car should also feature a 171 kW (229 hp) 3.0 turbo-diesel V6 & a 210 kW (282 hp) 3.6 FSI V6 for the flagship stormer, the Audi Q3S.

Audi Pikes Peak Quattro

The Audi Pikes Peak Quattro was a Sport utility vehicle concept car created by German automobile manufacturer, Audi. The Audi Pikes Peak Quattro was first introduced at the 2003 North American International Auto Show. The Audi Pikes Peak Quattro was named after the famed hillclimbing course, Pikes Peak which they taken overall wins and broken records during the 1980s, because of its off-road capability. The Pikes Peak quattro uses a twin-turbocharged 4.2 L direct injection V8 engine. This engine develops 500 horsepower and 465 pound-feet (630 Nm of torque, and features DOHC with 5 valves per cylinder. Acceleration is 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). The Audi Pikes Peak Quattro is well-suited for off-road use with its high ride height, Quattro All-Wheel Drive, and power rack and pinion steering.

Audi Nuvolari Quattro

The Audi Nuvolari Quattro was a concept car created by Audi. This vehicle was first introduced at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show. It was what Audi planned to become the vision of their next Gran Turismo vehicle. The Nuvolari Quattro had a 5.0 L twin-turbocharged V10 FSI engine rated at 600 hp (441 kW). It could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in about 4.1 seconds. Torque on the Nuvolari Quattro was rated at 750 N·m (553 ft·lbf). The Nuvolari quattro used Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. The Nuvolari Quattro was named after one of the most famous and legendary race car drivers of all time, Tazio Nuvolari. Nuvolari gained 61 Grand Prix victories and died in 1953. Fifty years after his death, the Audi Nuvolari Quattro was created in his memory. Audi subsequently developed the Nuvolari Quattro into the new A5 and S5 range.

Audi Le Mans Quattro

Audi subsequently decided to produce it as the R8, partly named after their very successful Race Car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times. It was the third and final concept car designed by Audi after the Pikes Peak quattro & Nuvolari quattro. The Le Mans quattro has a vast number of technical features which include the headlights which are made out of small LEDs. The frame of the body is all made of aluminium, called Audi Space Frame (ASF), while the outer skin is made out of carbon fibre. The Le Mans quattro also featured the magnetic ride suspension which is also featured in the new Audi TT which gives the car a firmer and more responsive drive & is supposed to handle very well. As it says Quattro in its name, it uses the Quattro 4-wheel drive system to give perfect grip as well as a firm ride with the magnetic ride suspension.

Audi Avus Quattro

The Audi Avus Quattro was a supercar-styled concept car from the German car manufacturer, Audi. It was first introduced at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show. The Avus Quattro had an aluminum exterior, which made it a lightweight, sleek and safer automobile. The Avus Quattro’s engine was supposed to be a 6.0 L 60-valve 12-cylinder engine producing 509 hp (380 kW), capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in about 3 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). The exact car shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, however, had a dummy made of carefully painted wood and plastic for an engine because at the time, such a powertrain was still in development; Audi-made W12 engines were not available to buyers until Audi presented its flagship A8 a few years later.

Audi Avantissimo

The Audi Avantissimo was a concept car by the German automobile manufacturer Audi. The Audi Avantissimo debuted at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. Audi planned the Avantissimo to be luxurious and distinguished, but very swift at the same time. Many of its styling cues are visible on the next-generation 2004 Audi A8. The Audi Avantissimo had a 4.2 L V8 engine equipped with twin turbochargers. This engine developed about 430 hp (321 kW) and 600 lb·ft (810 N·m) of torque. The Avantissimo had a six-speed automatic transmission and also had quattro all wheel drive.

Audi A1

The A1 was presented for the first time at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show as the Audi Metroproject Quattro concept car. The concept seats four and features a new hybrid powertrain. With this powertrain, a 1.4 L (85.4 cu in) 148 bhp (110.4 kW) engine drives the front wheels while a 40 bhp (29.8 kW) electric motor provides power to the rear wheels. The electric motor is also capable of producing 148 lb·ft (200.7 N·m) of torque.

Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is a full-size luxury SUV. It was designed with the help of engineers such as Jack Malde and McHewgor. The Q denotes a new family of vehicles for Audi, designated the 7 in its placement between the Audi A6 and Audi A8. It is also considered the first true SUV of Audi, since the existing Allroad is only a derivative of A6 Avant, and thus lacks the shape of a conventional SUV. Audi’s 350 PS (345 hp/257 kW), 440 N·m (325 ft·lbf) 4163 cc V8 and 280 PS (276 hp/206 kW), 360 N·m (266 ft·lbf) V6 3596 cc petrol engines, both with FSI technology, are offered. Interestingly, Q7 using either engine has the same 0 – 100 km/h performance. Two diesel options are available; a 240 PS (237 hp/177 kW) 3.0L V6 and in mid-2007 the 4.2 liter 331 PS (326 hp/243 kW) diesel with 760 N·m (561 ft·lbf) torque known from the Audi A8 was introduced. Audi is reportedly going to introduce a hybrid version of the Q7 in 2008.

Audi A6 Allroad Quattro

Audi announced the second generation Allroad in the spring of 2005 and released it in the summer of 2006. Unlike the previous model, this new model will be called Audi A6 Alroad unlike the previous version, which was merely called Audi allroad. The car features again adaptive air suspension and new QuattroII four-wheel drive system. The A6 Allroad is powered by two FSI gasoline engines, a 3.2 L V6 and a 4.2 L V8, and two TDI engines, a 180 PS (132 kW) 2.7 L and a 233 PS (171 kW) 3.0 L. The Tiptronic gearbox is standard on the 4.2 V8 and the 2.7 TDI, but optional on the 3.2 FSI and 3.0 TDI. The new 6-speed Tiptronic transmission system converts high-torque engine power into both sporty performance and operating convenience, with crisp, fast gear changes. Advanced electronics respond efficiently to all driver input in both D (Drive) and S (Sport) programmes, helping to prevent unwanted upshifts when cornering. The five-mode air suspension can be raised by up to 60 mm to provide ground clearance of 185 mm which better than the elder four-mode. The car features a number of off-road styling cues including larger bumpers and sills.

Audi R8

The Audi R8 is a mid-engined sports car introduced by the German automaker Audi in 2007. The first appearance of the car was in 2006, appearing at auto shows and events all over the world. The R8 is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, as Audi has full ownership of subsidiary Lamborghini S.p.A.. Audi announced in 2005 that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, which was based on the earlier Audi RSQ concept vehicle, appearing at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show and 2003 International Motor Show. The R8 was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There is some confusion with the name which the car shares with the Le Mans winning R8 LMP. Originally, many thought the car would be called the R9 (as there is a gap in numbering left when Audi announced the R8’s successor, the diesel-powered R10). The Audi R8 is equipped with a 4.2 L FSI V8 developing 420 PS (414 hp/309 kW), the same engine seen in the Audi RS4. The gearbox is either a manual gearbox with metal gate or a “R-tronic” gearbox (single-clutch robotic gearbox). These options are the same that are available on the Lamborghini Gallardo. A double clutch gearbox (DSG, S-tronic) is not currently (as of January 2008) available. Pricing for the R8 model starts from €104,400 (extra taxes depending on country). The base price in the US is $109,000. The R8 has a dry weight of 1560 kg (3439 lb). Its suspension utilizes magneto rheological dampers. As Audi AG owns Lamborghini, 15% of the R8 is shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo, including the transmission and chassis. The R8 is made further distinct by its exterior styling, cabin, engine and pricing. The Audi R8 also features an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.
