The Audi Q3 is expected to debut commercially in 2010. The three-door only SUV will be aimed as more of a lifestyle/sports car, rather than for the family/off-road market its larger Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 siblings aim for. Audi Q3 will be underpinned by the Volkswagen A platform of the VW Golf, the same as the VW Tiguan small SUV. The car will combine a Transverse engine layout with flexible steering and suspension offers. The Audi Q3 will borrow many Golf V, or possibly Golf VI, components, such as a DSG Twin-clutch Gearbox transmission and a 147 kW (197 hp) 2.0 FSI turbo engine featured in the current Golf GTI. The car should also feature a 171 kW (229 hp) 3.0 turbo-diesel V6 & a 210 kW (282 hp) 3.6 FSI V6 for the flagship stormer, the Audi Q3S.
